Abonmarche is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant in our South Bend, IN office.
Job Summary:
The Senior Staff Accountant will play a key role in the accounting department, responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This position requires a detail-oriented professional who can analyze complex financial data and collaborate effectively with various teams.
Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
- General Ledger Maintenance: Manage the general ledger, including posting journal entries, reconciling accounts, and ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately.
- Cost Accounting: Assist in tracking project costs and budgets, providing insights into project profitability and financial performance.
- Budget Preparation and Management: Collaborate with management to develop and manage budgets, monitoring variances and providing analysis.
- Month-End Close: Support the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Accounts Payable/Receivable: Collaborate with the accounts payable and receivable teams to ensure efficient and timely processing of invoices and payments.
- Payroll Management: Assist in the payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee compensation and related reporting.
- Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and addressing auditor inquiries.
- Compliance and Policy Development: Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and contribute to the development of accounting policies and procedures.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to accounting staff, assisting with training and development as needed.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project managers and other departments to provide financial insights and support operational decision-making.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Work Experience/Qualifications:
- 5-7 years of accounting experience, with a focus on financial reporting and analysis.
- Occasional travel to other office locations is required, approximately 20%. Overnight travel is not required.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
- Experience with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) compliance preferred.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Prior experience in an architecture and engineering (A&E) firm is helpful.
